Many people don’t realize that 225, 250 and 300 HP Yamaha 4 stroke outboards have a built in isolator to charge a separate house battery bank.  This 65A lead (which must be fused near the battery bank) will charge your house battery as second priority.  The charging circuit in the outboard will always charge the primary starting battery first.

The interior fusebox inside the Yamaha outboard already contains a fuse to protect output from the alternator, but you must also install a fuse or circuit breaker near your house battery, to protect it from short circuits to loads and from this charging lead.

Description

The Yamaha 6KW-81949-00-00 Equiv cable is a house battery lead which provides the connection from the built in isolator in the outboard to a separate house battery for the Yamaha 4 Stroke Outboards built during or after 2006.  Used in the 225, 250 and 300 HP models.

This is an actual Yamaha Product, Yamaha Part Number 6KW-81949-00-00.

An internal fuse to this new connection is in your outboard already.  The connection at the battery also needs a fuse or circuit breaker.  So, please install a circuit breaker or fuse within a few feet of the new house battery.
