This is our Better Connected™ NMEA Cable – 10 foot / 3 meter. It is a durable cable that has an NMEA male connector on one end, and a female connector on the other.
You can use this as either a backbone cable, or a drop cable.
We also sell this in a longer version. See our 3 foot / 1 meter NMEA cable.
If you’re just getting started, let’s go over a couple of common mistakes.
- Every NMEA network needs a backbone, two terminators, a power connection, and “drop” cables to devices or engines. Rarely (but not never) can you ever get away with just connecting two devices together.
- There are two NMEA standards. These are NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183. However, NMEA 0183 is an earlier standard, and harder to connect. Most importantly, the two are not capable of directly talking to each other.
- Almost every Outboard manufacturer has their variant of NMEA. In other words, they make up a name for it that makes is sound proprietary to them. They use different connectors. Electrically, it is the same thing.
Golden Channels Commitment to Quality
You cannot buy a better NMEA cable for this price. Firstly, shielding reduces radio noise, as well as ads mechanical strength to a cable. Our NMEA cables run two separately shielded pairs and a center ground drain. In addition to an outside braided shield for both mechanical strength, protection, and additional noise protection.
Better Connected™ Yamaha CommandLink NMEA Cable cables come with a two year free, no questions asked replacement warranty. Please see our warranty terms section on our website for details.
